Trees and Forests

TREES AND FORESTS

Trees and forests are one of the many keys to life on this planet. Without them, we would all die.

The average human living in North America uses paper and wood products that amount to hundreds of trees during their lifetime. To replenish the trees we use is a noble venture.

Please be involved with planting and protecting trees and forests. Support organizations that work to do the same.

Learn the types of trees that are native to where you live. There are over 970 species of trees that are classified as endangered. It is likely that some of them are native to your area. Find out which ones they may be, and then plant some of them.

“Trees shade our ground, create topsoil, clean the air and help the land attract, hold and filter water. The trees and their roots purify the water as the rains fall. Clean streams keep millions of aquatic and other species alive.”
– Tim Hermach, President Native Forest Voice; Forest Voice, Spring 2006; http://www.ForestCouncil.org

“Destruction of forests is a leading cause of global environmental breakdown, including global warming.”
http://www.AncientTrees.org,  2006

“We have nothing to fear and a great deal to learn from trees, that vigorous and pacific tribe which without stint produces strengthening essences for us, soothing balms, and in whose gracious company we spend so many cool, silent and intimate hours.”
– Marcel Proust

North Coast Earth First is working to protect the last remaining stands of ancient redwood forests on the planet. Lumber companies controlled by billionaire investors, pension funds, and endowments own much of these forests and want to cut them down for profit. Help protect the redwoods! Send donations to:
