Install solar panels to cut your use of fossil fuels. Home wind turbines may be a solution for creating your own electricity. But the technology for small wind turbines isn’t quite there yet – unless you live in a particularly windy area, or a place with a constant breeze.

 

Consider landscaping your roof with native plants. This will insulate your home while reducing the heat pond of your roof and will be providing safe habitat for native insects and birds.
